What is Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)?
Licorice is the dried rhizome and roots traditionally used by the Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Indian, and Roman civilizations as stomach tonic and cough remedy. Greek physician, Dioscorides used licorice to treat people with stomach ulcers back in the first century AD.
What is GutGard®?
GutGard® is a clinically-researched licorice root extract which is natural and rich in flavonoids. It is standardized to less than 3.5% of glabridin and more than 10% of flavonoids. Besides, GutGard® contains more than 50 flavonoids, including isoflavans, isoflavones, isoflavaones and chalcones. In order to ensure the product safety, it is deglycrrhizinated with glycyrrhizin <0.5%.
Besides, GutGard® is clinically studied to support Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) treatment. It also helps to relieve symptoms of daily gut health issues. Furthermore, it works symbiotically with probiotics and digestive enzymes. It works effectively in a very low daily dose which is only 150mg per day.
How does GutGard® work?
GutGard® acts as a gastroprotective. Besides, it reduces the inflammatory mediators such as PGE2, TXB2, LTB4, NO, IL-1beta and IL-6. Furthermore, it possesses antioxidant properties and good ORAC. It inhibits DPPH and ABTS. In addition, it acts as a prokinetic agent which modulates gut mobility. It is also proved to work against H.pylori. GutGard® inhibits the protein synthesis, DNA gyrase and dihydrofolate reductase. It stops the protein supply for bacteria growth and stops the DNA replication and transcription of bacteria. Hence, the bacteria died through the inhibition of DNA synthesis.
